Abstract
Purpose
This study was performed to investigate the level of state anger, trait anger, mode of anger expression, and health status, and find out the factors affecting health status in middle aged women.
Methods
The subjects consisted of 147 middle aged women. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires which were constructed to include Spielbergefs ST A XI( State-T rait Anger Expression Inventory) and Brodman's CMI(CorneIl Medical Index). The data were analyzed by the SPSS/WIN program.
Results
The health status of middle aged women correlated state anger, trait anger, anger-in, anger-out, and anger-control of them. The anger-control of middle aged women negatively related anger-out and trait anger of them. The significant predictor influencing health status in middle aged women were anger-in, anger-control, possession of house, and illness of family, and these predictors account for 30.7% of the variance in health status.
Conclusion
The above findings indicated that anger-in and anger-control are major factors influencing health status in middle aged women. Therefore nursing intervention for reducing anger-in and improving anger-control should be provided for middle aged women.
Key Words: Anger; Health status; Middle aged women
