Abstract |
The Purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the Solution-Focused Group Counseling Program (SFGCP) on the Alcoholic's Meaning of Life, Abstinence Self-Efficacy and suggest a nursing intervention program designed to prevention relapse and help recovery of Alcoholism.
Research method used in this study was an equivalent control group pre-test and post-test design in quasi-experimental research. The total subjects of this study were 62 Alcoholics residing at 2 Hospitals in Gwangju. 31 assigned for the experimental and control group. The experimental group received the SolutionFocused Group Counseling Program, but the control group did not receive treatment.
The data were collected from December 1, 2001 to May 5, 2002. and analysed by x 2 *test.
t-test. repeated measures ANOVA, Bonferroni multiple comparison. Using the SPSS 11.0 Program.
The results were as follows.
1. The experimental group received the SFGCP showed a significantly higher Meaning of Life score than the control group(F=5.062.
p = 0.028).
2. The experimental group received the SFGCP showed a significantly higher Abstinence Self-Efficacy score than the control group (F=5.038, p = 0.029).
Thus this study concluded that this SolutionFocused Group Counseling Program will be a more effective prevention of relapse and treatment for Alcoholics.
The following suggestions might be offered on the basis of the result.
1. It is recommended that study for lasting effectiveness of program on Alcoholic's Meaning of Life and Abstinence Self-Efficacy should be repeated.
2. It is recommended that the SolutionFocused Group Counseling Program should be developed with client's drinking problem level.
3. It is recommended that the SolutionFocused Group Counseling Progiam for Alcoholic's family should be developed as unitary method for multidisciplinary approach. |
