Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of imago psychotherapy on Abstinence Likelihood Inventory and Self concept of alcoholics who are hospitalized. The period of this research was from May 10, 2000 to October 12, 2000. The subjects were 12 alcoholics who are hospitalized in T mental hospital located in Taegu City. The research design was a one -group pretest - posttest design and the theoretical framework was psychodynamic theory. Collected data were analyzed by paired t-test with SPSS program. The results of this research were as follows: 1. There was no significant difference of Abstinence Likelihood Inventory scores between before and after treatment. 2. There was significant difference in self -concept in interpersonal relationship ability scale. I would like to make following suggestions with the results of this study. * Imago psychotherapy should be applied to outpatients, and then the effects of the therapy can be verified. *With repeated studies with different subjects, group psychotherapy should be a professional nursing intervention area.
Key Words: Imago Psychotherapy; Abstinence Likelihood Inventory; Self-concept
