Abstract
This study researched several different groups to see what they think of the importance of elderly sexuality. 621 people were surveyed. This study shows that the average of the importance of elderly sexuality is 123.26 points (the highest point being 165). In general, the perception of elderly sexuality is positive. The perception of married men, male citizens from big cities, unmarried people on the importance of elderly sexuality is higher than that of married women, male citizens from small cities (Northern of Kyungbuk) and married people. Elderly people have sexual desire in their minds, but they themselves do not accept it. Through their personal efforts and preparations for elderly life, their life can be adventurous and challenging. Although their physical body grows weaker, we have to understand the process of intellectual, emotional and spiritual growth and make every effort to live a creative and challenging life. Most people even the elderly themselves consider that it is not right for the elderly to have sexual desire. This prejudice can have negative influence on their will to lead a fulfilling life. For their life, they themselves need to change their thinking as well as their perceptions of the elderly. Above all, in order to get rid of these problems, people should be interested in the elderly in society and develop new programs to understand them.
