Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to verify the moderating effect of family strengths on the relationship between care time and care burden and depression among primary caregivers of disabled persons.
Methods
This study is a secondary analysis study using data from the 4th Disability and Life Dynamics Panel (2021) to confirm the moderating effect of family strengths on the relationship between care time and care burden and depression of primary caregivers of persons with disabilities.
Results
The results of the study showed that the care burden of primary caregivers of disabled persons increased depression, and family strengths lowered the effect. These results suggest a policy to promote family strengths, as the care burden of primary caregivers of persons with disabilities is a risk factor that can increase depression, and low family strengths can increase depression due to care burden.
Conclusion
Based on the results of this study, it is expected to serve as basic data for establishing the direction of institutional improvement of welfare for disabled households in the future as a measure to alleviate and prevent depression of primary caregivers of disabled persons.
