Abstract
PURPOSE
This study was conducted to identify factors which predict sleep in people who have alcoholism. METHODS: Data were collected from 171 people with alcoholism who live in Daegu, Kyungpook Province, in Korea. The collected data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis. RESULTS: Positive correlations between sleep disturbance and state, trait, and total anger were identified. Anger and insomnia experience before problematic drinking were identified as determinants of sleep disturbance which explained 15.9% of total variance of insomnia. CONCLUSION: The findings provide empirical evidence to help nurses prepare effective interventions to improve quality of sleep, in people who have alcoholism.
