Abstract |
Purpose This research was conducted to identify the relations among self-esteem, practical performance, and practical satisfaction in nursing students.
Methods Data was collected from a survey conducted between the 4th of December, 2007 and the 7th of March, 2008. Participants were 106 students of one nursing college. Data was analyzed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients using SPSS/WIN 14.0.
Results Self-esteem positively corre lated to practical performance and practical satisfaction, while practical performance positively correlated to practical satisfaction in nursing students. Self-esteem was significantly different according to grade, age, and grade ranking. Practical performance was significantly different according to age and motivation to study nursing. Practical satisfaction was significantly different according to age. The older aged group showed a significantly higher score in self-esteem, practical performance, and practical satisfaction.
Conclusion This study is meaningful in a way that it reveals the positive relationship among self-esteem, practical performance, and practical satisfaction in nursing students. |
