Abstract |
Purpose The purpose of this study was to examine whether self-efficacy and problem solving capacity had a positive impact on rehabilitation outcomes(interpersonal relationship skill, daily living skill, and symptoms) in patients with schizophrenia.
Methods The subjects consisted of 390 patients with schizo phrenia who were attending 25 psychosocial rehabilitation centers. Data was analyzed by the SPSS and AMOS programs.
Results Self-efficacy showed a direct effect on problem solving capacity in patients with schizophrenia. Self-efficacy and problem solving capacity showed a direct effect on functioning(interpersonal relationship skill and daily living skill) and symptoms in patients with schizophrenia.
Conclusion These results suggest that function can be increased and symptoms can be decreased in patients with schizophrenia by increasing self-efficacy and problem solving capacity. Based on the outcomes of this study, it is necessary to design an intervention program that emphasizes increasing self-efficacy and problem solving capacity in order to increase function and decrease symptoms in patients with schizophrenia. |
