Abstract

Purpose
Adjusting to life in foreign country produces a great deal of physical and mental health problems. User centered health management program may be particularly useful in Korean American elderly. The purpose of this paper is to describe the development of health management program for Korean American elderly using principals of user centered design.
Methods
Our design process includes four distinct phases: needs assessment, analysis, design, development/testing/revision, and application release.
Results
This program includes an introduction, important of health management in elderly, major health problems in elderly, self-examination, methods of health management, FAQ, family education, helping resources and institutions.
Conclusion
The end result of this program will be Korean American elderly with a high degree of usability. The next stage of this project is construction of a web-based health information service system for all of the Korean American elderly. Author believe this program have true potential in helping Korean American elderly who are suf'fering, or at risk, for health problems, particularly because of lack of health information in American.
