Abstract |
Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the level of ego-identity and the level of stress symptom of the middle-aged women living in agricultural and fishing villages in K-city.
Methods This is a descriptive correlation study. The subjects consisted of 444 middle-aged women(40-60 years old) living at K-city from July, 2006 through August, 2006. Sample was selected randomly, and then interviewed individually using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient.
Results The level of psychological stress symptom of the subjects was 1.75士0.53 and the level of physical stress symptom of them was 1.76士0.49 mean score. Total mean of ego-identity was 2.71±0.25.
The level of psychological and physical stress symptom was negatively related to ego-identity in middle-aged women.
Conclusion Various systematic programs to raise psychological and physical health condition is needed to improve the quality of the middle-aged woman's life. |
