| Abstract |
Purpose This study was designed to examine the effects of weight control program on weight gain and self-esteem of psychiatric inpatients.
Methods The study employed quasi- experimental design. The subjects included 41 patient with mental illness, 20 in experimental group, and 21 in the control group. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and body weight scale over a 7 months period.
Results There were significantly decrease in scores of weight gain in experimental group compare to control group. Also, there was increase score of self-esteem in posttest than pretest of experimental group.
Conclusion The weight control program have effect on decreasing weight gain and increasing self-esteem of psychiatric inpatients. |
