| Abstract |
Purpose This study was designed to examine the effects of cognitive-behavioral therapy on the problem-solving ability and dysfunctional attitude in undergraduate students.
Methods This study used an non-equivalent control group pre-post design. The data was collected from September, 2004 to May, 2005. The subjects consisted of 28 undergraduate students. The experimental group(n=14) participated in a cognitive-behavioral therapy that consist of 8 session(8-week period). For both group the scores of problem-solving ability and dysfunctional attitude were measured before and after experiment. The data were analyzed by unpaired t-test and t-test with the SAS program.
Results The scores of problem-solving ability was significantly decreased, and the problem-solving confidence(the subscale in the problem-solving ability) was decreased after cognitive-behavioral therapy in experimental group.
There were no changes in dysfunctional attitude scores.
Conclusions In lights of these results, cognitive-behavioral therapy has a positive effects on problem-solving ability in undergraduate students. |
