Abstract |
Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of Imago Psychotherapy on self-concept of alcoholic families.
Methods The period of this research was from August 24, 2004 to May 31, 2005. The subjects were 10 alcoholic families receiving imago psychotherapy once a week for three months in DC alcohol counsel center located in Daegu City. The research design was a one-group pretest-posttest design. Collected data were analyzed by paired t-test with SPSS program.
Results 1. The mean score of self-concept factors was between 37 and 43.
2. There was significant difference in self-concept score in emotional stability, interpersonal relationship ability, problem solving and total self-concept between before and after treatment (p=.026, p=.001, p=.043, p=.017).
Conclusion As a result of this study, it seems likely that group imago psychotherapy program has a positive effect on self-concept of alcoholic families. Thus, this imago psychotherapy program can be an effective nursing intervention for the recovery of alcoholic patients in psychiatric nursing practice field. |
