Abstract |
Background Anselm Strauss and Barney Glaser, two sociologists developed the grounded theory methodology in the 1960's. However, now there are some differences between Strauss' methodology and Glaser's methodology.
Purpose: This study was to describe the differences between Strauss* version and Glaser's version in grounded theory methodology.
Methods This study used a comparative analysis through literatures review on grounded theory methodological issues in order to see what similarities and differences are between Strauss 1 version and Glaserian version.
Results Their some methodological differences were summarized into four parts: a) selecting of the research problem, b) interview questions, c) literatures review, and d) analysis process.
Conclusion As researchers apply the grounded theory methodology to his/her study, they have to consider which approaches they select: Strauss* version, Glaserian version, or a compromised version. |
