Abstract |
Purpose This study was conducted to investigate the effects of psychological factors on eating attitude in university hospital's nurses.
Methods For this assessment, a cross-sectional study was conducted with 286 nurses who have worked in university hospital. Nurses were questioned with self-reported questionnaire forms. We investigated eating attitude, psychological factors(anxiety, depression, stress, selfesteem) and general characteristics of nurses.
Results Nurses with abnormal eating attitude were 47 cases( 16.43%). The proportions of abnormal eating attitude were higher in cases of nurses with having anxiety, depression, high stress and low self-esteem.
After controlling confounding variables, the factors associated with the abnormal eating attitude were stress, exercise, drink and weekly working hours.
Conclusion Nurses having higher stress had more abnormal eating attitude. So, it is necessary to develope an program for reducing psychological disturbances. |
