Abstract |
Purpose The purpose of this study was to examine the difference in clinical, functional, subjective experience domains by the perceived peer support for mentally disabled persons.
Methods The subjects were divided into two groups: group (N=172) of scores above 3.10 of peer support and group (N=203) of scores below 3.00 of peer support. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires, which were constructed to include the Peer Support Scale, the Korean version of BASIS-32, the Career Search Self-Efficacy Scale, the Quality of Life Scale, and the Self-Efficacy Scale. The data were analyzed by the SPSS/WIN program.
Results There were significant differences in total symptom, total function and all of the two factors, total career search self-efficacy and all of the four factors, total quality of life and a positive self-perception of the three factors, and total self-efficacy and all of the two factors by the perceived peer support for mentally disabled persons.
Conclusion The findings of this study suggest that the approach for an effective rehabilitation outcomes for mentally disabled persons should consider peer support. |
