Abstract |
Purpose This research was conducted to examine relationships among meaning in life, health status, and self efficacy in adults.
Methods The design of this research was descriptive correlational design. The data were collected through accidental sampling from January 5 to March 31, 2005. The subjects were 284 adults between 20 and 65 years old who live in Seoul and its vicinity. They were able to communicate well and agree to participate this study. The instruments used were meaning in life(MIL) of Lee et al. for meaning in life, Cornell Medical Index for health status, and Tipton & Worthington's tool for self-efficacy.
Results There were statistically significant differences meaning in life according to educational level, occupation, financial level, and personality.
There were statistically significant differences health status according to sex and occupation. There were statistically significant differences self-efficacy according to occupation and personality. There were statistically significant positive correlations among meaning in life, self-efficacy and health status.
Conclusion According to these results, a nursing intervention program should be developed to increase meaning in life and self-efficacy to promote health status. |
