A study on aggressive behavior & nursing intervention at psychiatric ward

Abstract
This study was undertaken to investigate answers to the following questions. 1) What are the characteristics of aggressive behavior in psychiatric ward? 2) What is the nurse*s intervention to aggressive behavior? 3) What is the effective nursing approach of aggressive behavior in future? The data was collected by nurse’s observation record about aggressive incidents. The 17 aggressive incidents occured in psychiatric ward in a 13-month period. The data analysis was performed by typology in literature descriptively. The results are as follows: 1) Almost all aggressive behavior occured in combination with disturbing behaviors. Disruptive behaviors may procede endangering behaviors. 2) The nursing intervention of aggressive behavior were (encourage thought),
