Abstract |
Purpose The purpose of the study was to investigate the grade of obesity and weight control methods of college students.
Methods The Convenience sample consisted of 87 male, 232 female college students. The grade of obesity was calculated based on Broca method. Weight control methods Questionnaire was used.
Results Female students more frequently used jogging, swimming, aerobic exercise, stretching while male more frequently used exercise with a ball game of the physical exercise methods. Females more frequently used undereating, miss a meal, miss two meals, fasting, monodiet, dieting tea, avoiding high cal foods, constipation medicine, sauna, avoiding party than males. Obese subjects more frequently used jogging, cycling, skating, mountain-climbing, overweight subjects more frequently used exercise with a ball game, DDR than other groups. Overweight subjects more frequently used miss a meal, specific foods, dieting pill, Acupuncture, avoiding party and obese subjects more used dieting tea than other groups.
Conclusion Although Excercise and diet methods were frequently chosen by students, students had been using unhealthy methods, therefore an appropriate weight control program is needed to developed for college students. |
